Pubblichiamo l'intervista a Brian Scope dell'RMT, il potente sindacato inglese dei trasporti che aderisce, come USB, alla Federazione Sindacale Mondiale (FSM/WFTU).

Il sindacato dei trasporti RMT spiega le sei principali ragioni per le quali darà indicazione ai suoi membri di votare per uscire dall’Unione Europea al prossimo Referendum .

1. Lasciare l’UE per porre fine agli attacchi ai lavoratori delle ferrovie
Le nuove politiche ferroviarie europee sono impostate per approfondire ulteriormente il processo di privatizzazione del settore ferroviario e la sua frammentazione. Ciò produrrà  anche ulteriori attacchi alle condizioni di lavoro e all’occupazione, inoltre l’impianto legislativo dell’UE renderà pressoché impossibile rendere nuovamente di proprietà pubblica l’intero settore ferroviario.

2. Lasciare l'UE per porre fine agli attacchi ai lavoratori marittimi e degli offshore
L'UE ha promosso la sottoquotazione e il conseguente dumping sociale che ha portato alla decimazione dei lavoratori marittimi del Regno Unito. Lo stesso sta oggi avvenendo nel settore offshore. Sono le stesse direttive dell’UE che ora richiedono la messa in gara anche per i nostri servizi di traghetto pubblici.

3. Lasciare l'UE a porre fine agli attacchi ai diritti dei lavoratori
E 'un mito che l'UE sia a favore dei lavoratori. l'Unione Europea, infatti si sta attrezzando con un nuovo quadro politico che attacca i diritti sindacali, la contrattazione collettiva, le garanzie del lavoro e dei salari. Questo è quanto viene già applicato nei paesi che hanno sopportato i "salvataggi" dell'UE.

4. Lasciare l'UE per porre fine all’austerità
Se si entra in un Unione ci si aspetta che i membri dell’Unione si proteggano l'un l'altro nei momenti di difficoltà. L'Unione Europea ha fatto l’esatto contrario. Ha usato la crisi economica per imporre austerità e privatizzazioni agli stati membri. Invece di proteggere posti di lavoro e gli investimenti il rigore dell’UE sta guidando l’austerità del Regno Unito .

5.Lasciare l'Unione europea per fermare l'attacco al nostro Servizio Sanitario Nazionale
Il Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) il Trattato Commerciale in corso di negoziato tra l'UE e gli Stati Uniti promuoverà le grandi affari intorno alla spesa pubblica, tra cui la protezione sociale e altre istituzioni tra cui il nostro Servizio Sanitario Nazionale (NHS)! Le normative ambientali, diritti del lavoro, la sicurezza alimentare, le leggi sulla privacy e molte altre garanzie saranno sottomesse al diritto delle aziende di fare sempre maggiori profitti.

6. Lasciare l’Unione Europea per sostenere la democrazia
La stragrande maggioranza delle leggi che influisce sulla nostra vita sono ora realizzate nell'UE e non nel Regno Unito. Noi non abbiamo voce in capitolo su tali leggi. Come ha detto alla fine Tony Benn, nel 1991 ...
"Stiamo discutendo se i cittadini britannici devono essere autorizzati ad eleggere coloro che fanno le leggi in base alle quali sono governati. L'argomento non ha è nulla a che fare con la richiesta di ottenere  più il congedo di maternità dalla signora Papandreou [un commissario europeo] "
RMT diffonderà i sei punti chiave direttamente ai suoi membri in tutti i settori dell'industria e dei trasporti  attraverso il sindacato RMT, le news, attraverso le filiali, i rappresentanti e attraverso le piattaforme dei  social media del sindacato.
  Il Segretario Generale della RMT, Mick Cash ha detto:
"RMT è orgogliosa di difendere la sua tradizione di opposizione progressista e socialista contro l'Unione Europea, un'organizzazione che si è sposata alle privatizzazioni, all'austerità e che attacca la democrazia.
"Sarebbe francamente ridicolo per un sindacato come il nostro per sostenere lla permanenza in un club di boss che mirano a vietare la proprietà pubblica delle nostre ferrovie, che attacca i settori del trasporto marittimo e offshore e sostiene  la privatizzazione del NHS e altri servizi essenziali da cui dipendono i nostri membri.

"RMT ha esposto chiaramente ai nostri membri le sei ragioni principali per votare per lasciare l’UE e su questa piattaforma faremo una campagna molto dura."




TRANSPORT UNION RMT SETS OUT SIX KEY REASONS FOR LEAVING THE EU

TRANSPORT UNION RMT today set out six key reasons why it will be advising members to vote to the leave the EU in the forthcoming referendum:


1.      Leave the EU to end attacks on rail workers
New EU rail policies are set to further entrench rail privatisation and fragmentation. That will also mean more attacks or jobs and conditions and EU laws will make it impossible to bring all of rail back into public ownership.

2.      Leave the EU to end attacks on seafarers and the offshore workers
The EU has promoted undercutting and social dumping leading to the decimation of UK seafarers. The same is now happening in the offshore sector. EU directives also require the tendering our public ferry services.

3.      Leave the EU to end attacks on workers’ rights
It’s a myth that the EU is in favour of workers. In fact the EU is developing a new policy framework to attack trade union rights, collective bargaining, job protections and wages. This is already being enforced in countries which have received EU “bailouts”.

4.      Leave the EU to end Austerity
If you join a union you expect members of the union to protect each other in times of trouble. The European Union has done the opposite. It has used the economic crisis to impose austerity and privatization on member states. Instead of protecting jobs and investment EU austerity is driving UK austerity.

5.      Leave the EU to stop the attack on our NHS
The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) trade agreement being negotiated between the EU and the United States will promote big business at the expense government protections and organisations including our NHS! Environmental regulations, employment rights, food safety, privacy laws and many other safeguards will also be secondary to the right of corporations to make even bigger profits.

6.      Leave the EU to support democracy
The vast majority of the laws that affects our lives are now made in the EU and not the UK. We have no say over those Laws. As the late Tony Benn said in 1991…

“We are discussing whether the British people are to be allowed to elect those who make the laws under which they are governed. The argument is nothing to do with whether we should get more maternity leave from Madame Papandreou [a European Commissioner].”

RMT will be promoting the six key points direct to members across all sectors of the transport industry through the union’s RMT NEWS, through branches and reps and through the union’s social media platforms.

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said:
“RMT is proud to stand up for the tradition of progressive and socialist opposition to the European Union, an organisation wedded to privatisation, austerity and attacking democracy.

“It would be frankly ludicrous for a union like ours to support staying in a bosses club that seeks to ban the public ownership of our railways, attacks the shipping and offshore sectors and embraces the privatisation of the NHS and other essential services that our members depend on.

“RMT has set out the six core reasons for our members to vote to leave and we will be campaigning hard on this platform.”
